April 10 – Secret Server

An app for your secrets

No not really but this is an app where you can record all your logon details for all the different websites, apps and programs that we use these days

When you first set up Secret Server you will enter a password and you will be given a Org code, you will need both of these to login. You can also set a passcode, this is a 4 digit code that you enter whenever you want to access the app.

Within the app you are free to set up everything from social media passwords to bank account details, it all comes down to your comfort level but I know with the amount of apps and passwords I have on the go at the moment this little app can be a lifesaver.

Good Luck

April 9 – Run Keeper

Do you like to run or walk? Well RunKeeper is for you

Gone are the days when you need to wear a pedometer to track the number of steps you take and they are so cumbersome and make your clothes look lumpy anyway.

RunKeeper is a fun way to track the distance you have walked or run. You can set goals for yourself like, how many kilometres you would like to walk in say a year, your goal weight or you might want to finish a race.

The app will keep track of how far you have walked this week, your average pace, how many times you have walked, calories burned, elevation and time spent walking.

When you start and activity you set the type (walk or run), you can select a route and a playlist, runkeeper will then use GPS signals to track your route, pace, calories, time, steps and distance and all you have to do is walk.

RunKeeper also lets you connect your activity with social media like Facebook and Twitter and connect with friends.

Another app I just love

April 7 – Upad Lite

Upad Lite is a note taking app for iPad

You are able to select the paper you want to right on and the colour of your pen. Your can add photos, highlight text, underline things, insert documents, open pdf files, you can even copy of paste. There is so much you can do with Upad and you do it all in your own hand writing or with a keyboard if you like.

This app also allows you to export your document to pdf or png and send it via email or upload it to storage clouds like dropbox or evernote.

A great app for Uni students taking notes during a lecture

April 6 – Good Player

The Video player that comes with most iPhones and iPads will only play mp4 format

Good Player will play any format from avi to mkv

Once you have downloaded it you then use iTunes to load the videos via the Apps tab, scroll to the bottom, select Good Player and then click on the Add… button. Select the files that you want to add to the player and once you have synchronised your device your good to go.

April 4 – Dropbox

This is your go to app

You can install dropbox on your iPhone, iPad, iPod and on your computer.  It works like windows explorer. You add the files to it that you want to be able to access on the go, like an assessment task sheet or something you need to read. Once they have been saved to dropbox you will have access to the from anywhere at anytime. I can read them on my phone, I can access them on any computer just by logging into the dropbox website and I can download them to my iPad.

Love it, love it, love it, such a paper saver

April 3 – Kindle

Now I love to read and I have discovered eReaders.

This one is an alternative to the iBook app that comes with iPhones and is created by Amazon and links to your Amazon account.

All you do is purchase a book from Amazon and it is automatically downloaded to your app and read to read.

The reason I soooooooo love this app is because I always have my phone with me and if I am stuck somewhere I can just get my book and and read it.

But that’s not the best thing, eReaders remember where you are up to and the next time you open your book it puts you to the page your were last reading, so if I fall asleep reading not only does my phone turn itself off but the eReader remembers where I am up to.

Sensational

April 2 – iAllowance

Now I love this app

This app allows me to track my money, yes my money.

I enter in the chores that I do at home like vaccum, clean my room, empty the bins, stuff mum has agreed to pay me for and when I have done them mum checks them off in the app and I get paid (virtually).

Some of my chores are listed as star chores like cleaning my room and for each star I get it is equal to 10 cents, other chores are list with a $ amount. At any time I can go into the app and see what chores I need to do and how much money I have to go shopping.

This app also tracks my bank account, when I set it up I entered my account balance and my weekly allowance which mum deposits each week, now instead of logging on to internet banking to get my balance I can just look in the app.

The app also allows you to transfer money between chores & bank accounts, so when mum transfers my chore money to my bank account she also transfers it in the app so that I can see it.

Finally I can enter Rewards, these are items that I am saving for, like a new pair of shoes or a formal dress, and I can see how I am tracking towards having enough money.

I really love this app

April 1 – Timetable

Now there are loads of these but the one that I chose is called Handy Timetable

This app is exactly as it is named, it allows you to add your school/uni timetable. It was really simple to use.

Here is an example

timetable2

As you can see I was able to add each subject and colour code them. I was able to add the start and finish time for each period and the Room details for each subject. It also allows you to add assignment and exam information for each subject.

Now I have my timetable on my phone and it is so much easier than trying to find it in a book or on a piece of paper in my bag

Good Luck
