Geek Week 7

Hello and welcome to our last entry for Geek Week. Today I would like to show you a few of my favourite geeky iPhone gadgets.

Our first up is the Waterproof smartphone case. This case will protect your smartphone from the elements while boating, swimming or lounging at the beach while still allowing you to use your phone without taking it out of the case.

Secondly I give you the Astronaut iPhone stand. I love this one just because it looks cool and charges your phone at the same time

Pick of the day

My last pick of the day for Geek Week is the iPhone photo printer. This is the compact, portable printer that produces photo quality pictures directly from a docked iPhone 4 or iPod touch. You can also connect iPhone 5, Android phones, and iPads using a lightning, Micro-USB, or iPad cable.

Geek Week 6

Today we will delve into the medical world & mobile technology.

Our first gadget is for all you party animals out there, it’s the Breathometer. This little device plugs into the headphone jack of your smartphone and then you blow into it to find out your blood alcohol level.

The second gadget for today is the oximeter. Bringing the medical world into you home, the oximeter is a small plastic device that can measure your blood oxygen levels and pulse rate. Simply attach the dongle to your phone and your finger and your information is displayed on your phone.

Pick of the day

Finally my pick of the day is the Mobisante’s Ultrasound. Unfortunately this product was released for the Windows Mobile 6.5-based Toshiba TG01 smartphone only but that doesn’t make this device any less awesome, and it means that we are that much closer to having the technology where ever it is needed.

Geek Week 5

Tonight we are looking into the world of Technology & Pets.

Our first gadget for our pets if the FroBo, this bowl keeps a supply of water for your pet chilled all day long. The bowl contains a removable insert lined with non-toxic gel that after as little as two hours in the freezer (gel changes color when frozen) the insert will keep water chilled well below room temperature for up to eight hours.

The second gadget on my list is the Pet’s Eye view camera, if you’ve ever wondered what the world looks like through your pet’s eyes then you need a Pet’s Eye View Camera. The lightweight camera clips to your cat or dog’s collar and takes pictures every 1, 5, or 15 minutes, giving you insight into how they experience things… and what they’re up to when you’re not around.

Pick of the day

Finally my pick of the day today is the PintoFeed. This automatic pet feeder does everything you would expect it to do and can be set up manually or allow the Pintofeed to learn your pet’s feeding schedule. But the best  feature is the smartphone app that allows you to control multiple feeders and feed your pet remotely if you suddenly realize you’re not going to make it home on time.

Today’s addition of Geek Week is brought to you by the Study.

Our first gadget for the Study is a funky little USB in the shape of an Oreo cookie, yes USBs now come in all shapes and sizes.

The second gadget on my list is the multi-purpose cable clip, these handy little clips will hold all you cables in place and come in a pack of 6 from Amazon.

Pick of the day

Finally my pick of the day today is the Amazing Humidifier. This handy little gadget will turn any water bottle into a Humidifier. The device consists of a screw-on cap embedded with a filter and fan, and a USB cord.

Happy Studying

Geek Week 3

Good Evening, today we are heading in to the bedroom for our technology fix.

Our first gadget is the Zeo Sleep Manager Pro, yes there really is an app for everything. This little gagdet/app professes to manage and improve your sleep. The combination of an app and a headband to measure how much restorative Deep or REM sleep you are getting.

The next gadget we have for you is the Alarm Pillow which gently vibrates at the given hour, to wake you up with a buzz. The only problem is that the weight of your head acts as a snooze and mine would just be permanently on snooze.

Pick of the day

Finally my pick of the day today is the Alarm rings. You set the individual alarm for each ring and then wear the ring to bed, at the selected time the ring will vibrate to wake you up.

Geek Week 2

Hello again & welcome to Geek Week where I am showcasing a few of the wonderful inventions that I have found on the internet.

Today we are in the kitchen with 3 very handy devices, the first is the E-Z, this little gadget attaches to the rim of any wide-mouthed pot or shallow pans so that you can pour the liquid contents into a bowl or utensil without spilling over. I can see myself using this aid when I try and pour out the excess oil from mince. See more at Evolve

Moving on to the oven with the next little gadget, this one makes so much sense I don’t know why no one has thought of it before. It’s called the Silicone Oven Shield and means that you can pull the HOT oven rack out without the use of an oven mitt.

Pick of the day

Finally my pick of the day today is this fantastic chopping board that also weighs the item you have chopped.

Happy Cooking

Geek Week

Hey there everyone this week I have decided that I will be having Geek Week where I will be posting new technology each day.

To kick off the week I am starting in the bathroom with some of my favourites.

First there is the LED Tap light, these are great for the kids, the light is blue when the water is cold and turns red when the water is hot. The only draw back I can see is that it does require batteries but it is just a little bit of fun.

Available from ThinkGeek

Shower head

Next up in the bathroom is the shower head, and just like the tap above you can get a shower head that tells you the temperature of the water. Both products have a heat sensitive LED light.

but there is also one for disco dancing in the shower

I have seen both of these at stores like Bunnings and Masters & they aren’t that expensive.

Pick of the day

Finally we have reached the ultimate in bathroom technology, the SmartFaucet, this one is a tap with built-in face recognition technology that automatically adjusts the water pressure and temperature to your preferred settings. The touchscreen display allows you to access your emails, appointments, and the outside temperature while LEDs illuminate the flow with temperature matching colors.

So the next time you are renovating a bathroom have a look at what technology has to offer you.

Good Luck

USB PowerPoints

Hey There Peeps,

I am such a technology geek that I am always looking at new gadgets & wondering when they will be available in Australia. One of my favorites is a Power outlet with USB ports, this would be such a time saver in my house because I don’t have to listen to the constant question of “does anyone have a charger?” We would no longer need them.

I have kept my eye on the Techno world just waiting for these to become available and at a reasonable price, well everyone I recently found them on eBay and I had them installed today. They come exactly as the image above shows with 2 power outlets and 2 USB ports, a 1 volt port on the left for mobile phones and a 2 volt port on the right for tablets and other power hungry items.

I am in love and thank you to my eBay seller, Linked Fresh

Connecting Twitter to Facebook

Today while trying connecting my Twitter account to my Facebook Page (which is a magic maze in itself) I attempted to find the answer in Facebook help but all I found were questions. Eventually I found the answer myself so I thought I would share it with the world

NOTE: Now I have to state up front that I use the latest version of Facebook which makes the page on my computer look very similar to the page on my iPhone and this is how I connected.

To connect a Twitter account to Facebook you need to access your personal profile.

  • From the drop down menu select Settings
  • On the left there is a list, select Followers
  • On the right you will see Twitter, select Edit
  • Now select Link profile to Twitter this will take you to Twitter
  • Now select Authorise App

Your twitter account is now connected to your Personal Profile page but that isn’t what we wanted. If you look below this section you can see your Pages.

  • Select Link you page to Twitter this will again take you to Twitter
  • Now select Authorise App

When you are returned to Facebook this twitter account will now be connected to both your Personal Profile page and your Facebook Page.

  • To unlink from your Profile simply click Unlink from Twitter

And you are done.

Good Luck

If you are still using the old version of Facebook its very complex and very clunky

You can now follow me on Twitter @Learner_Girl

Twitter is another Social Media site that will increase my exposure to the world, the Twitter blog stated on 1st Feb 2013 that there were 200 million active twitter users but in July 2013 Statistics Brain released their research that found there are 554.7 million active twitter users . Now that is a lot of potential exposure and Twitter is fantastic for sharing via its “Retweet” feature.

So what is Twitter?

Twitter is a mobile application that allows it’s users to share with the world what it happening in their corner of the world. It allows people to retweet items that they like or think that their followers would like. You can follow your favourite celebrity, news program or paper, or just your regular Joe Blow from down the road.

Twitter allows you 140 characters to speak your mind, it also allows you to add photos and links.

I will be using Twitter to post headlines to my lastest posts that will include a link

So please follow me on Twitter

Wish me Luck
